Our Story

While visiting in Virginia, we happened on Emerson Creek Pottery in Bedford. We had to travel down a long, gravel road down to a clearing with an old farmhouse out in the country. They make all of the pottery on-site and hand paint each piece. It is truly a destination and people seemed so happy to be there.

After the trip, we were so inspired that we thought we could create that same effect and share of peace and quiet of the country here! We purchased the farm and converted the century old house in 2000. Everyone that came to see us liked it so much they started spending the day on the porch enjoying the countryside.  Some even started to bring their lunches out to relax in the country atmosphere and we realized there was a need for something more.

With our imaginations stirring again, we started renovating the old horse stables and stalls on the property in 2002 to create an even bigger porch and place for people to sit and enjoy lunch. Emerson Creek Tearoom was born and we have been serving delicious, home-made lunches ever since!

Soon after we got engaged, we took a look inside the barn and had a vision of our family and friends laughing and celebrating, watching the sun set over the fields, and music and laughter filling the air. It was then that we knew where we wanted to be married. Over the course of 2 years, we stripped the dirt and debris from the barn, hung vintage chandeliers, and added the stone patio to make this dream come true. In the fall of 2010, we were wed at Emerson Creek. We have now celebrated the commitments and marriages of many couples and could not be happier to share  in the joy of their special day!

The Café

est. 2002

You would never guess that the charming tearoom where you enjoy a delicious gourmet lunch was once the same spot that horses dined on less civilized fare. Converted in 2002, the old horse stables on the property seemed to be the perfect spot for a one-of-a-kind Café. Remnants of the original structure can be found outside and along the porch: the worn hitching post, original trusses and beams, and the preserved stalls where you can sit and dine al fresco on a beautiful summer day. Our weekly menu offers a variety of homemade dishes including our popular Emerson Creek Flower Pot Salad, Apricot Chicken Salad Croissant, and Asparagus Quiche, all of which is served on Emerson Creek Pottery. Of course, lunch at Emerson Creek would not be complete without dessert!

The Barn

est. 2010

For years, the elegant barn you see now sat filled with old horse stalls, boxes and debris, complete with a dirt floor! In 2010, we were inspired to take the architectural shell of this structure and completely transform it into one of the most unique special event venues in the area! Imagine your first dance under the sparkling chandeliers, your friends and loved ones enjoying the night air on the stone patio as the sun sets over the countryside. Make it an event to cherish at Emerson Creek!

Meet our Staff

We are happy to welcome each of our visitors daily at Emerson Creek. We aim to provide old fashioned service, so allow us to introduce ourselves.

Chris & Dave Demiduk

Emerson Creek Events is the life pursuit of owners Chris and Dave Demiduk. You will find the Demiduks on site nearly every day. Once summer is in full effect, Evan, their son finds an odd job to do. On some days, you may even spot family dog, Wiggles. The family’s efforts, and the efforts of a wonderful staff, have produced a comforting atmosphere, where old-fashioned service is a mainstay, Tuesday through Saturday.

Emerson Creek is often visited by a sweet little spotted dog who happens to be loyal extension of the Demiduk family, Wiggles. Perhaps while sitting in a rocking chair on the Tearoom porch, or checking out at our shop counter you may be greeted by her smiling face & wagging tail. When you see her don’t fret, & if you’re kind to oblige, she’d love a good pet!

A very special thanks to Joy Lyn Photography for many of the stunning shots of Emerson Creek as seen on our website! Joy is a Chicago area photographer with 10+ years of experience with Wedding and Newborn photography with a true passion for capturing all the beautiful moments life has to offer.
